E-passport: E-Passports Can Be Hacked and Cloned in Minutes
Tests conducted for the UK's Times Online have concluded that the new high-tech e-passports being distributed around the world can be hacked and cloned within minutes. A computer researcher proved it by cloning the chips in two British passports and then implanting digital images of Osama bin Laden and a suicide bomber. Both passports passed as genuine by UN approved passport reader software. The entire process took less than an hour.

I just finished Little Brother... and am not surprised this is for real. The more these jive turkeys try to take our freedom, the more motivation there is for folks - not just "black hats", but folks like you and me - to take it back by ... something resembling a revision control system. :) It's a vicious cycle, the fascist-style security game. The Aussies have learned already - don't play. They've gone in and cleaned up more areas of the South Pacific... and made folks like it. Now, the Aussies don't have jack in the way of a Second Amendment, and I don't care for that, but I do think that otherwise they have the right idea: Make a society that no one *wants* to bomb, and folks won't bomb it. Although right now our name is mud and we just need to come *home*... but still. It's doable. It just takes the right mindset. One not about control but about contribution.
