mdlbear: portrait of me holding a guitar, by Kelly Freas (freas)

It's been a very productive day, though not so much at work. I was attacked by a new song last night, and mostly finished it at lunchtime; I'll probably end up writing off a lot of today's work time as vacation.

Had a really good practice session with Joyce and Jordan this evening; "Paper Wings", "Millennium's Dawn", "Quiet Victories", and the new one (still need to run that past somebody before I can post it). Did the new women's ending for QV and verified that it works correctly with the men's ending when they're sung together. It'll work. The concert at ConChord has every potential to be made of win. The amount of awesome sauce remains to be determined.

I need to practice more -- the fingertips on my left hand feel a little numb.

Made two social phone calls around noon; both went to voice mail so I am, as it were, off the hook for the moment.

Glad things are going well on the music front.

Hopefully, if I can continue my re-immersion into music, songs will begin to find a way in/out once again. I'm not going to hurry it, as much as I'd like to. I've usually been one to have dry spells and then bursts so we'll see what happens.

I definitely understand the numbness although I was having it in my right (strumming/picking) hand and arm interestingly enough. On the other hand (no pun intended :)) I haven't played for a long time in a long time, so I was getting left hand finger pain long before I'd get numbness. I'm hoping to get back to my old pattern of playing most days of the week for short amounts of time (15 - 30 minutes). I once read that playing every day for about 15 minutes is better than something like 2 hours once a week. That's completely paraphrased but the idea is there. It sounds like you're totally there but I'm woefully out of practice and the habit. So it's time for me to start over :). Okay, enough of taking over your journal with my thoughts on my need to practice :).
