So we're in a local computer store today & looking to purchase a RAM upgrade for the eMac. The nice lady of whom I ask directions in Customer service gets on the horn & asks for for someone from the purple department.

The what? I say.

Computer purples, that is what you want isn't it.

Eventually we find out that she's trying to say "peripherals", but it still comes out "purples."

Of course, we got the wrong RAM chip, but we learned about computer purples.

I'm reminded of when I first learned the Pledge of Allegiance, back around first grade. I didn't know what that big word right before the part about liberty and justice meant, so I asked my mother.

She said "It means you can't see it."

That seemed odd, but no worse than lots of other things adults do. I later figured out that I must have left out a syllable or something.
