I *would be* wondering how Cordwainer Smith turned up in your user profile and thus in my inbox (via Google alerts for CS), but now I know. I had forgotten that passage from Mark Elf... It's never been one of my favorites of his stories but I'll have to re-read it.
As for why I have CS as a Google Alert, he's my father. I recently redid my website on him at www.cordwainer-smith.com and addded a blog there too. I'm keeping a closer eye on where he turns up around the net, just for fun!
