Colleen[11]:
2008-11-25 12:47 pmSometime this afternoon we're going to move Colleen to a skilled nursing facility, White Blossom Care Center on Fruitdale Ave. in San Jose. It's a short walk from the Younger Daughter's school.
She's staying on IV antibiotics for another two weeks, and next week she'll be seeing a specialist in San Francisco. It is currently suspected that the fistula is not due to her Crohn's disease but more likely a consequence of either her hernia operation two years ago, or her bout with diverticulitis 15 years ago. A previous surgery, in any case. So Remicade is on hold, but things still look hopeful. More so, because if it isn't Crohn's there wouldn't be any reason not to fix it surgically.
More news, including contact info, as it comes in. Meanwhile, her cell phone still works.

Date: 2008-11-26 01:03 am (UTC)Best wishes to the good Lady Colleen and you all from Indiana. Yes, Kaiser tries to send people home too early; at least, that was my experience of them during my intestinal woes of a few years ago. But stay on top of them - there ARE good people there, and you'll get a good result.
Hospital beds - have you tried Craigslist? Picked up a fully-functional reasonably recent vintage one for the broken-leg kid for $100, and it's ours to keep.
Toilet - there are inserts that will raise the perch however much you need it raised, and most are easily removed as desired.
*hugs*!

Date: 2008-11-26 01:03 am (UTC)As for the medical part... I am confused. Does all of that mean a good thing? I hope so.

Date: 2008-11-26 01:48 am (UTC)The medical part is hopeful, at least. Worst case they just let it heal, which might take a month or more; best case they can help it along a lot.
