It's cold, and I'm lonely.

...and it shouldn't take half an hour or more to make a phone call to somebody friendly, somebody I know well, and make a schedule change for tomorrow. Pathetic.

And yet, many of us have been there. I've spent days, at times, working myself up to make a phone call. Worse, I've sometimes failed to make the call after all that. Don't be too hard on yourself.

I often fail, too. But I'm getting better -- there are a whole half-dozen people who I can (usually) call without too much hesitation if I have a good excuse.
