o/` Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday.... o/`

Got word via this post by kshandra that my long-time friend meglimir lost her fight against cancer this evening at about 8:30EST, three years to the day after she was given two months to live. Damn, but she fought a good fight.

Robin Hilp; known online as meglimir, RubyMeg, Ruby Tuesday, rolybear... we met on alt.callahans years ago, probably the first friend I made online and later met in Real Life. Our older kids are the same age.

She is survived by her husband sammyd, sons grendies and ratlan, godson dajonjon, and an unguessable number of friends both online and off line.

sammyd's last set of posts are heartrendingly sweet and sad; you should go read them.

jennkitty (the one with 2 Ns) took me aside in IRC tonight and noted that Robin's godson dajonjon is living with the family currently, as well.

It's always tough to have a friend pass beyond the veil - my condolences for you.

I've had some close friends pass recently, including perhaps my closest - sdfischer in 2004. Their LJ's now serve as a memorial to who they were..

I remember her fondly from alt.callahans (and met her at a CallihaniCon) though we didn't keep in touch. I'm sorry to hear of her passing.

Deepest and most heartfelt sympathies. I'm not sure which is worse: to be dying oneself and know it and be unable to prevent it, or to have one of one's nearest and dearest dying and know it and be likewise helpless. Hugs and whatever else you need, call.
