It may help to remind yourself that you did do it competently and successfully, in spite of pain, frustration, anxiety, and depression.

As it turns out, I didn't. I forgot to turn on the damned pump. So, in spite of feeling like a competently-performed task at the time, it turns out to have been a total failure.
