Colleen: drinking her lunch

Colleen is now on clear liquids; she's had a late breakfast and is currently drinking lunch. (Drinking her lunch is a whole lot better than mainlining it; she's not complaining.) They're saying Tuesday or Wednesday for getting sprung.

She's just requested take-out Chinese for her first meal at home.

They've dialed back her epidural again; she still can't move her legs well enough to get out of bed. But she's in a lot less pain now, so reducing the epidural should be ok. She's off the IV fluids now that she can drink again. Yay!

Happy bear.

(added 1:38) She's looking gorgeous, too, in a bright jungle print blouse that she and Marty designed for hospital use. And I played my recording of Riverheart twice - she loved it. (See previous post for audio link.)

Will Colleen be well enough to attend Consonance? If she goes home Tuesday or Wednesday but can't make it to Consonance, would she appreciate visitors at home?

One way or another, she'll be at Consonance. We may have to haul in a special chair for her, but she'll be there.

Yay!!!! I've been fretting over whether or not the surgery would mean she had to miss the con - happy to hear she'll be there.

If she's out of the hospital for any portion of the con, she'll be there even if she has to be carried. I doubt it will come to that -- she's recovering pretty much on schedule.

I'm so glad she's doing well and can come home so quickly. I know she's been looking forward to Consanance all year. I very happy for her that she'll have a chance to make it. :)

I can imagine how desperate she is for "real food"! Although nutritional liquids are still a vast improvement over intravenous feeding.

Indeed. Though in this case she's only been away from "real food" for a couple of days, and she'll be getting real lunch today.
