Colleen: one step back
2009-03-02 10:32 pmWent in to see Colleen this evening. She looked pale and haggard; she'd thrown up her lunch and still wasn't able to move her toes. I spent much of the time simply holding her hand while she slept.
So her bowels still aren't functioning, and she still can't get out of bed. I'm wondering if this is related to her codeine sensitivity.
Grump.

Date: 2009-03-03 01:37 pm (UTC)Codeine, or any other opiate, will definitely impede bowel functioning even in people who aren't abnormally sensitive to it. And if she reacts badly to it, why are they giving her codeine in the first place? There are plenty of other moderate-strength painkillers to choose amongst.
