You may possibly remember this post from June 29, where I describe a cute little USB MP3 Pen + FM Radio + Voice Recorder that I ordered for $49. It arrived this morning, in a cute little metal box, complete with charger (USB interface), USB extension cable, a pair of (white with chrome trim) earbuds, and a small CD-R disk.

It's charging now. The controls are spartan, of course, and there's no display, but I wasn't expecting either. It looks to the OS like a floppy drive: there's no partition table, just a single VFAT (Windows 98) filesystem.

Happy geek. Oh, yeah: see the userpic for what it looks like.

Well, maybe not, but this USB MP3 Pen + FM Radio + Voice Recorder looked pretty damned good for under fifty bucks.

From the blurb:
# 512 MB flash memory
# MP3
# FM Radio
# Built-in microphone for voice recording
# Data storage
# Memo taking
# Mobile data storage and exchange
# Easy to view, edit, and copy files
# Dimension: 148x18mm
# Weight: 50g
# Support Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP, Linux or Mac Os

It's that last item, Linux support, that settled it. No line in, but I wouldn't use it in something this small anyway. Probably no ogg, either, but I can live with that too. No telling how long it'll take to ship from Hong Kong, and it would have been nice to have for the trip to Westercon in San Diego, but I bought it anyway.
