Balsalazide and KCl for Colleen * buy: pantsu * Made dinner. Started with frozen potato skins, then made pasta with ground beef, onion, tomato, rosemary, oregano, white wine % reading an issue of the Voice and seeing pictures from the 2009 reunion, which I missed. My 40th. But, given Colleen's condition at the time and during the months leading up to it, it's not surprising I didn't go. Arthur Gropen, my favorite math prof, died last April % So the problem isn't not having enough time to do everything -- that's a given. The problem is not prioritizing things correctly; doing too much of the fun, easy stuff before the hard, necessary stuff. And too much time thinking about what to do next, and not enough time just doing it. * 11ish bath; bed ~11:30; S=5727
Saturday was mostly a day of quiet puttering and nostalgia -- the puttering turned up an alumni magazine from a year ago, where I found pictures from my class's 40th reunion, and an obit for Arthur Gropen, my favorite math professor. *sighs*
The insight for the day was that my problem isn't that I don't have enough time to do everything I need to -- that's a given. The problem is not prioritizing things correctly; doing too much of the fun or easy stuff before the hard, necessary stuff. And far too much time thinking about what to do next, instead of just doing it.

Date: 2010-05-10 04:23 pm (UTC)I'm a list person ... strangely enough, I think you are too :-)
I've spent days (over the years) designing my ultimate list software ... but have never started writing it (of course!)
The best I ever managed was having a decent multilevel to-do list program on a PDA ... and then making sure I ticked off things as they rose to the top of the lists by due date and priority.
I think I need to get back to that again ... am tempted to put up a whiteboard in the house ... but I think that some sort of wiki-thing might be better! Can you recommend a good online wiki/todo list site (preferably free!)
There seems to be a lot of good buzz around "Remember The Milk"

Of course, if you're that much like me, you'll spend far too much time updating lists and not getting important stuff done (the "color the study schedule" phase of revision that stops students actually cracking open the books ... and how long until "cracking open the books" is like "burning the midnight oil" or "winding the clock", a reference to times gone by!)
Which reminds me, time to go home and get more done on sorting the house, paperwork etc.!

Date: 2010-05-10 06:09 pm (UTC)Yeah; my current list software is Emacs and a set of conventions; it would save a fair amount of time if I at least added a few macros for marking and posting.
I spend altogether too much time in my to.do list.
