Done day before yesterday (20100530 Su)

0530 Su
  * up 8:45; drugs, nose; shower
  : wired ethernet connectivity very spotty; nearly useless.
  * breakfast with Chaos; mediocre buffet.  Home with laundry and Plink.
    Should have gone home for breakfast, but having meatloaf and Brussels
    sprouts for lunch.  Yum.
  & listened to "No Other Name" -- it's a gorgeous song and I don't understand
    it at all.  Maybe I don't have to.
  % got back to con.  Discovered that I had misplaced the handicapped placard.
    ! annoyed at myself, puzzled over what could have become of it.
  & art show.  dealers' room.  Several great conversations on the way back.
    $ sold a CD to Clare Bell, who was signing books in the dealers' room
  * panel on how tech is changing fandom/how fandom is changing.  Arrived half
    an hour late, but there were 5 panelists there already and doing fine.
  * dinner with Colleen, Kaylee.  
  * evening conversations, filking, conversations.
    went out on QV, by request (by septemberlilac, who was out in the hall
    talking with Colleen; brought them in to listen)
  % it works really well for Colleen to have Kaylee as a personal gofer.
    Con would have been a nightmare otherwise.

A good day. Got involved in a couple of conversations on the way back from the art show and dealer's room, and ended up half an hour late to my panel on "how fandom is changing" (or maybe it was "how tech is changing fandom"). Fortunately there were 5 other panelists, so they were doing fine.

In the evening I fit in a little time in the filk room between conversations. Went out on QV, for septemberlilac -- I pulled her and Colleen in from the hallway so I could do it in the room. I have been remiss about noting the songs I actually performed in circles.

I spent about 3 hours/day at home doing laundry; day-tripping would have been better, especially given the hotel's iffy connectivity and the restaurant's mediocre buffet breakfast. Next year. It also worked really well for Colleen to have Kaylee as a personal gofer; it's the only thing that made it possible for me to get to my scheduled programming. I didn't get to anything else.

I'm very worried about Westercon/ConChord.

Do you have any idea how long we're stuck with the Hyatt? As well, perhaps, what our alternative choices might be?

Two or three more years, at least. And there aren't a whole lot of alternatives, as far as I know.

And thank you again for singing QV - I'd thought about asking you to sing The River, but at that point River would have caused me to totally fall apart and I try to avoid post-midnight meltdowns in public. Still wish I hadn't missed your concert, though!
