Apparently I haven't updated since Monday. Um... sorry about that!
I've been busy at work. Not so busy as measured in lines of code -- mostly what I've been doing is checking up on the contractor who's been writing a critically important piece of glue code that wasn't on the critical path when he started. *sigh* I appear to have a knack for showing up exactly when he needs a question answered or a new idea, and I'm the best (sometimes the only) one for this, so I'm glad that I'm available. But I'm even more certain that I never want to be a full-time manager.
It also makes a convenient excuse for being too brain-fried to do much at home besides putter and read web-comics and LJ. Hey -- I got the bedside commode cleaned and put away, the filing cabinet moved out of the middle of the bedroom, the dishes and pots washed (several times), and the guest-room bedding washed and put away. And backed up my cell phone's address book onto its SIM. Now if only I can finish a song and put in 9 months of FHSA receipts in the 6.5 days left before I leave for my Mom's birthday party in North Carolina.
The YD aced her math final on Monday! Meanwhile, our long-term unexpected
house guests (themangoavenger and BF) went home. I like our
friends a lot, but that was a looooooooong visit. N. reminded me that I
have trouble setting limits. She's right. Still, I was very sad in the
car taking them to the airport; not because they were leaving but out of
empathy for her.
We had a holiday party at work on Thursday, with music (the jam after our practice session on Wednesday was a heck of a lot of fun). I skipped the bowling afterward in favor of getting more work done.
The Senate passed the repeal of DADT -- finally! There's a total lunar
eclipse tomorrow night -- I have a link to peteralway's
five-day warning up there under the cut someplace. There are feral houses
in Detroit. I need a bigger power strip for my travel kit. Did I mention
that I blather? Or did that almost go without saying?
