Today I am grateful for...

  • An old friend who sends me silly cat pictures every day.
  • Luggage.
  • Polyethylene glycol 3350. Senna.
  • Ticia and Bronx. The other household cats, too, but Ticia and Bronx are the ones who sleep with me.
  • A slight but hopefully real decrease in decision paralysis.
  • E'. More than just a housekeeper; we're all going to miss her after we move.

Yeah, so this was actually written on Friday the 19th, but I somehow forgot to post it. No idea why, except maybe having too much fun following the Cloudstrike debacle. Anyway, ...

Today I am last week I was grateful for...

  • Not running Windows, so being immune to this morning's Cloudstrike outage. (But UPS is running late, and if they don't deliver my cancer meds by Wednesday I'm going to be annoyed.) NO thanks to the local Bartell's, which doesn't even have that for an excuse.)
  • Not not having had any travel planned for today.
  • Also not being in a hospital.
  • Prime Day prices.
  • No longer working at $A, so not being on call for Prime Day.
  • Being more resilient than I thought I was.

raw notes )

Apparently I haven't updated since Monday. Um... sorry about that!

I've been busy at work. Not so busy as measured in lines of code -- mostly what I've been doing is checking up on the contractor who's been writing a critically important piece of glue code that wasn't on the critical path when he started. *sigh* I appear to have a knack for showing up exactly when he needs a question answered or a new idea, and I'm the best (sometimes the only) one for this, so I'm glad that I'm available. But I'm even more certain that I never want to be a full-time manager.

It also makes a convenient excuse for being too brain-fried to do much at home besides putter and read web-comics and LJ. Hey -- I got the bedside commode cleaned and put away, the filing cabinet moved out of the middle of the bedroom, the dishes and pots washed (several times), and the guest-room bedding washed and put away. And backed up my cell phone's address book onto its SIM. Now if only I can finish a song and put in 9 months of FHSA receipts in the 6.5 days left before I leave for my Mom's birthday party in North Carolina.

The YD aced her math final on Monday! Meanwhile, our long-term unexpected house guests ([livejournal.com profile] themangoavenger and BF) went home. I like our friends a lot, but that was a looooooooong visit. N. reminded me that I have trouble setting limits. She's right. Still, I was very sad in the car taking them to the airport; not because they were leaving but out of empathy for her.

We had a holiday party at work on Thursday, with music (the jam after our practice session on Wednesday was a heck of a lot of fun). I skipped the bowling afterward in favor of getting more work done.

The Senate passed the repeal of DADT -- finally! There's a total lunar eclipse tomorrow night -- I have a link to [livejournal.com profile] peteralway's five-day warning up there under the cut someplace. There are feral houses in Detroit. I need a bigger power strip for my travel kit. Did I mention that I blather? Or did that almost go without saying?
