It occurred to me about an hour ago that it's probably not surprising that I feel like I'm under stress. Some of the most stressful events are supposed to be things like losing a job, retiring, and moving. In the last six and a half years I've:

  • Moved five times.
  • Been involved in three remodeling projects.
  • Been laid off twice.
  • Sold a house twice. (In both cases for a great deal less than expected.)
  • Bought a house twice.
  • Lost a (feline) family member.
  • Totaled a car.
  • Retired.
  • Started job-hunting again.

Not to mention other household members with life-threatening health problems. (Mine were just painful as heck -- multiple torn muscles and a broken nose.)

So, yeah. That happened.

Moved five times.

That alone would be ungodly stress, from my point of view. (I have moved several times as a kid, and twice as an adult if you count moving up to my now-spouse's place, and I fully intend to keep this house FOREVER AND NEVER MOVE AGAIN AUGH.)

Permission to validate that you do, indeed, have entirely objective reasons to feel stressed?

That's stress! That's a legitimate problem, plus about a dozen of its bigger, meaner cousins who came by for the afternoon and have couch-surfed on your peace of mind ever since.

I think you're doing WELL with the load you're under!

Yep. I think that, at any rate, it's good to notice it, and maybe cut yourself some slack?

This is correct! Hope that noticing/remembering it is of some use to you. Sadly, in my experience, knowing that stress is justified helps a little with not stressing ABOUT the stress but not at all with the original stress-load.

<3 Take care. You are a shiny person and I am lucky to know you.
