Being too lazy to come up with a costume, especially considering that I'm one of only two or three who seem to take any note of the holiday at all, I simply put on the skull shirt that the [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat designed for me. Got a couple of mentions.

Had time for a walk at lunchtime. It was my third day in regular shoes, and I didn't have any problems. Back to normal?

The kids went out trick-or-treating with separate groups of friends.

About 8:45 I walked over to [livejournal.com profile] jilara's (with the [livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf's coworker D) to see what she had done for her halloween decorations. This year it was a convention of aliens; there was a huge UFO hovering over a neighbor's driveway, various sizes of spider ranging from 6" to a yard or more, and an oddly-constructed creature in which one could recognize a pushbroom and a vacuum cleaner.

Went inside for some conversation and cat-scritching.

The only other noteworthy thing about the excursion was that, when I'm walking with somebody capable of keeping up, I seem to push my pace considerably. This time I managed to keep it reasonable -- last time I took a lunchtime walk with coworkers I got a case of shin splints that had me hobbling around for a week. I noticed a similar effect when I was back at Carleton for a reunion a few years back; somehow about being in familiar surroundings made me walk at the pace I used to use back then. Tiring, but no doubt good for me.

Crawled back into my hole and did a little more work mixing "Cicero".

I am not going to try for NaNoWriMo. It continues to tempt me, but my goal for the month is to make significant progress on my album. (That was my excuse last year, too. This time for sure!)

This strip from Something Positive showed up in a couple of places on my friends list today. I find it both touching and vaguely disturbing. I'm having a little trouble pinning down exactly why it bothers me, but I'm going to try.

If discussions of religion as seen from the outside bother or bore you, you'll want to skip this one. )
