No, I didn't get any recording done, but that doesn't mean I was completely idle musically, or even that I didn't get any work done on the album. I'll get to that upwhen a post or two. Extra points if you recognize the reference.

I got a good night's sleep, which meant that by the time I was ready to start thinking about going out for a walk it was getting close to lunchtime, so I stuck around and worked on the website. While I was having lunch, KQED (our local NPR TV station) started a rerun of Michael Tilson-Thomas's series, "Keeping Score". Two episodes. Didn't get out for walkies until 2:30.

I spent most of my TV time beating on my Linux laptop, trying to make it recognize my new UA25 audio interface. So far I have not succeeded, but it worked on my desktop. So it sounds like time for an upgrade. Ubuntu is supposed to recognize it out of the box, but Dapper didn't and I don't have a copy of Edgy at home.

Coming home from dropping the [livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf off at work this morning, I found myself briefly behind a car with "Honk if you love Jesus" painted on its rear windshield. Below that were two American flags on the trunk lid. Below that were two bumper stickers:

TRUTH not tolerance
Jesus loves you whether you like it or not.

No further comment.

As I mentioned two posts downwhen from here, I did get some album-related work done over the weekend. It wasn't recording, though; my voice wasn't really up for it on Saturday. Sunday I just ran out of time, though I did finally get in some practicing ahead of my concert at Loscon. (I think I'm doing well enough with Janis Ian's "Last Train" that I can perform it. I'm not completely happy with the arrangement, but it definitely benefits from a drop-C tuning.)

back to the album... )

Bottom line: -- I intend to have Coffee, Computers, and Song at the duplicators in early 2007, and will start taking pre-orders on New Year's Day. Anyone who pre-orders for $20 will get a $5 bonus album.

Rock on!

Gates wants to play host, AOL may soon be toast | InfoWorld | Column | 2006-11-17 | By Robert X. Cringely®
Bill Gates may soon be joining Leona Helmsley and Donald Trump among the world’s elite hoteliers. Sir Bill’s investment group is part of a consortium bidding to take over the Four Seasons Hotel chain. One can only imagine what may happen if the bid is successful. At the new “Four Seasons Live,” room service will be available for just $35 per call, though all food deliveries will be routed through Bangalore. To combat rampant towel piracy, guests will be required to validate their room keys within 15 minutes of checking in or get locked out; the toilets will ask three times if you’re really sure you want to flush. Welcome to the Hotel Microsoft: You can reboot any time you like, but you can never leave.
Probably not, but they'll be changing the name to The Gates Motel...
