Relaxing things:
- Take a walk. Best if it's someplace with running water; the Los Gatos Creek trail intersects Leigh Avenue, where I live, a mile or two from my house. At work, I can walk to a little park with a koi pond.
- Play guitar. Usually if I'm by myself I just noodle; half an hour or soo of strung-together bits of folksongs and blues.
- Read. Exactly what I read varies considerably; these days it's mostly LJ and an assortment of websites, or Science magazine. Sometimes SF or a good mystery. For a "comfort book", usually either Tolkien or Cordwainer Smith; sometimes Andre Norton or James H. Schmitz. Yeats if I'm feeling lonely and depressed.
- Oddly enough, sometimes some totally mindless bit of housework, like laundry or dishes or pulling weeds. It's not that my mind wanders, more like a form of Zen meditation.
- A nice hot bath, just before going to bed.
