A truly open Linux phone with GPS debuts
The initial run of OpenMokos will be small and out soon, this month in fact. They are meant to be seeded to developers and those wanting to port apps before the mass market launch in January. If you are one of those wanting to get your feet wet, contact FIC for the details.

So there is now an open GPL phone that won't say no to you. It has GPS for location and is reasonably priced. OpenMoko could be good for all the players from users to carriers, and if it takes off, it's usefulness could grow exponentially. I want one.

Gadget Lust!

I'm a bit worried about screen buttons, you can't feel them and poke without looking and that is how most people dial their phones. So a Regular Phone Key Pad would be useful.
The typer pad can be screen buttons, I'm getting used to that with the pda. And it avoids Blackberry Thumb (too much typing with the thumb keypad). Trio actually suffers from the same problem, which is why I've avoided them.
And I would defnitely wait for WiFi. Really annoyed I didn't for the PDA upgrade.
Screen is still too small to be completely useful. But as a pocket gadget it will have to do.
Linux is definitely better than having Software Lust, because the kid's phone can do something yours can't (the kids find all the neat stuff) and there is no way you could just find it somewhere and add it to your phone. No he hasn't done that yet, but he will. :)
