And you know, $4K for a high end guitar is not that bad.

I'm trying not to notice. Fortunately, there are other music-related things that have higher priorities and add up to over $4K.

Wrong question. The right question is whether Linux has drivers for the Gibson MAGIC protocol. If I remember the spec from when I first read it a couple of years ago, it's basically isochronous UDP plus some negotiation, so the drivers shouldn't be hard to write.
