Drove out to the creek this time, wearing the Keen hiking boots with new arch supports. Started out strong, but started feeling calf pain after around 15 minutes. Dropped the pace down, which brought the heart rate down to the 115-119 range. Somewhere around 25 minutes I seemed to find a pace that didn't hurt but kept the rate up, so I kept going under Leigh Ave. and continued on to Meridian. Somewhere around 50 minutes my rate started going up past 120, presumably because I was finally getting tired.
Don't know whether the initial problems were due to the shoes, the pace, yesterday's exercise, or the fact that I was mostly walking on asphalt. This will take some experimentation, I think.
Stats: Total time: 1:20; Average heart rate: 120; Max: 133.
