Didn't spend much time at all at the drama llama petting zoo Silicon this year. A panel on Saturday, dinner with the Cat, and Peter Beagle's concert in the evening. A quick turn around the dealer's room, which didn't take long. The kids gofered, and Colleen spent a couple of hours there today.

Very small con, and the hotel, once the local SF con hotel, sucks. We won't bother going next year, I don't think.

Didn't get much else done, though, beyond running errands, taking care of Colleen, and some writing, mostly working on a big river post on love and friendship. Music? Not nearly as much work as I intended.

Between Kepler's and the painters, the only Silicon event I was able to get to yesterday was the filk concerts, and even there I was so sleepy that I had to leave before the last act (the Bohnhoffs). So all I heard were Peter S. Beagle, Loren Davidson, and Paul Kwinn. That was enough for a very enjoyable experience, though. Peter Beagle, in particular, is a fine songwriter who isn't heard from nearly often enough.

In other news, the hotel coffeeshop has gone even further downhill. The coffee Friday night was completely undrinkable, and last night I got a "Beefeater martini, up" that consisted of warm gin in a tumbler. No olive, no chilling, no martini glass. If I'd wanted a shot of gin straight up I would have ordered it that way. And parking is going to be nightmare for any con larger than a few hundred people. It's pretty clear that the hotel is no longer interested in hosting conventions.
