Not a bad week. A sizable fraction of Colleen's intestinal problems may have been due to the antibiotics she was on; much less troublesome since she finished them mid-week. Between that, the pressure sore on her butt healing, and what seems to have been a small shift in attitude on my part, things have been going much more smoothly.

Started the week with a trip down to Seattle to spend the afternoon and evening with the other half of the family -- both of N's kids and the Bonus Teenager. Monday my singing lesson started early, and ran long because there was a lot to talk about. Including "Ship of Stone", which of course was the song we worked on. Because Pegasus.

I am now on the third day of NaBloPoMo (National Blog-Posting Month); expect to see post- and word-counts as a colophon. The script I use for those is MakeStuff/blogging/word-count. I think the only thing even remotely ingenious is using pandoc(1) to convert the post to plain text before counting words -- that gets rid of all the HTML tags that would artificially inflate the count. (Whether one wants to inflate the count is another matter. I don't, but YMMV.) Last year I missed three days. We'll see.

I think there was a research paper done recently upon the intestinal effects of antibiotics, that concluded most of the problems were the result of antibiotics wiping out the internal biome. aka gut bacteria, and the knock-on effects of that.

The solution was a 'fecal transplant' from a healthy person's gut, taken in suppository form.

Personally, I'm not sure if the cure is worse.
