Done Since 2020-10-11
2020-10-18 01:06 pmIt's been a bad couple of weeks. I did get out three posts last week and this week (counting the Sunday summaries); that's a bit more than usual. Though I appear to have forgotten the Thankful Thursday posts both weeks. Blerg.
The plumber came out Friday, diagnosed the problem (or rather agreed with my diagnosis, which is a leak -- more like a broken pipe -- in the supply line, just outside the house), and headed up to Oak Harbor to get an excavator. Despite assurances that he'd be back that afternoon, he hasn't been seen since. He did say that it was okay to turn the water back on for brief intervals, so I did dishes and laundry yesterday, and will re-fill jugs and do dishes again today. Maybe laundry too.
Colleen's diarrhea was back this week; I suspect it may have something to do with tomatoes. Growf. Or it could be the catheter getting blocked again. There are too many variables to be sure.
I'm trying to cut back on the amount of news I'm consuming. It's hard. The main alternatives are writing, doing random chores, and reading. Reading is the only one I can do with a cat on my lap. That and staring into space and drifting in and out of sleep. I can do that too.

Date: 2020-10-19 01:47 am (UTC)You have sounded pretty overwhelmed lately, so remembering to be somewhere, even virtually, probably isn't easy. But you'd be welcome at more of them! And you can set up to listen while you do other stuff, though it's wonderful to hear you singing.

Date: 2020-10-24 07:23 pm (UTC)David Berebe's Obesity Era article from Aeon was fascinating. There's so much moral panic clogging people's brains, insisting "it's simple calorie in = calorie out"
That's why Peter Wilson's 2019 article The Death of the Calorie makes a nice bookend.
Sending you warm thoughts.
