In the interest of not feeding my depression, I don't think I'll make any
political posts today other than pointing at ravan's annotated copy of the
Declaration of Independence.
I find the name of our country's current president theocratic
dictator ironic in the extreme.
added: Also go watch/listen to this opinion piece by Keith Olbermann, or read the text which has the last paragraph that was cut off in the video.
Total for the con: 5 new pre-orders and 11 bonus disks delivered. You can still pre-order Coffee, Computers, and Song! -- I expect that it will finally go to the duplicators sometime this month. Hopefully in the next two weeks, which would let me throw a release party at ConChord.
Seen many places on my flist, here's a link to my 42nd LJ post. My life in a nutshell, I guess. Can't speak for the universe.
Finally got back to working on Vampire
Megabyte. Stick a fork in Drive a stake through it -- it's
done. Added a 2600Hz tone in front of the DTMF tones, and a 2100Hz tone
after them. Could, theoretically, go back and fix the modem tones now
that I know what
they're supposed to be, but I prefer the musicality of what I came up
with. Follow the title link to the audio -- I just uploaded the current
version.
From meglimir comes the latest potential time sink: LibraryThing.com. I'm going to
wait before attempting to enter my library; I've done most of my
Cordwainer Smith from memory. Same username as here, of course.
Should have the Wolfling take me a userpic in front of some bookshelves. It's not as if we don't have any...

Took a five-mile walk this morning, which kind of makes up for the negligible amount I did over the weekend (though I did do a lot of stair climbing, and don't seem to have gained much, if any, weight).
From meglimir, a pointer to this article on
walking. Not sure I believe walking barefoot is as magical as all
that, but I certainly prefer shoes with a wide space for the toes, and go
barefoot around the house.
Just spent a pleasant half-hour or so watching the few fireworks we can see from our front porch. The neighborhood is mostly one-story houses with a few tall trees, but the left side of the porch and the driveway get a pretty good view of the top half of San Jose's show.
I've always loved fireworks, though it's been several years since we went out of our way to watch them.
