Made some good River posts out of the insights from the last couple of days. Good progress there.

Not much else got done between household chores and visiting Colleen. I'd forgotten just how big a bite that takes out of the day. I seem to be both missing her more, and taking it better than last time. Progress?

Many projects and subtasks have been stalled for a long time. Two of them got done this morning.

First, I hooked up my new printer (Epson Workforce 600) to Dorsai, downloaded the latest version of Gutenprint, and it worked. No such luck with Nova, which is still running Etch: the latest version of Gutenprint available for it is too old. I have the choice of either trying to backport, or upgrading to Lenny. I'll choose the latter, later.

Second, I dragged in a music stand, headset mic, and Flame; hooked them up, and recorded a couple of test tracks of [livejournal.com profile] pocketnaomi's Riverheart. Oh. My. [ogg] [mp3]

A couple of minor vocal/wording glitches, and a few mic position/level tweaks still needed, but nice and clean; not bad for the second take of the day. The headset mic is close enough to my mouth that there's almost no guitar crosstalk. We likes it.

Waves to [livejournal.com profile] pocketnaomi.

Colleen is now on clear liquids; she's had a late breakfast and is currently drinking lunch. (Drinking her lunch is a whole lot better than mainlining it; she's not complaining.) They're saying Tuesday or Wednesday for getting sprung.

She's just requested take-out Chinese for her first meal at home.

They've dialed back her epidural again; she still can't move her legs well enough to get out of bed. But she's in a lot less pain now, so reducing the epidural should be ok. She's off the IV fluids now that she can drink again. Yay!

Happy bear.

(added 1:38) She's looking gorgeous, too, in a bright jungle print blouse that she and Marty designed for hospital use. And I played my recording of Riverheart twice - she loved it. (See previous post for audio link.)

No matter what it my look like on my daily "Done yesterday" posts, a lot of things are getting forgotten or passed over. The taxes aren't even started, except for a little bit of filing and organizing.

A lot of things I said I would do have fallen by the wayside, or are getting done very late. I seem to have left a book that I was reading somewhere, probably the surgery waiting room, and my nailfile (with attached USB stick) probably in a restaurant.

I may have a little more cope, but it doesn't seem to be translating into getting tasks either started or finished. I'm clearly not getting enough sleep, but I can't get back to sleep when I wake up at 4 in the morning. Here it is not even 10:30 and I'm falling asleep at the keyboard. If I go to bed now I'll be up at 22 or 3am.

I'm feeling sleepy and grumpy and lonely and sad and lost. I'll probably be find after I've had some sleep.
